Because You Asked For It

We've had quite a few requests for the ice cream recipe we used so here it is. Give it a go - it's so easy to make and it tastes great.

Room 16's Hokey Pokey Delight

Not to be outdone by Tip Top we decided to make our own ice cream.  We did a procedural writing in our books and then set to work making what we reckon was the yummiest ice cream ever.  There's just 3 simple ingredients - cream, condensed milk and crunchy bars.  Take it from us . . .  it tastes as good as it looks!

Then it was all gone (4 litres of it) - and sorry Mr T when we finally found out where you were we had run out!

Terrific Tip Top Trip

Last week as part of our Change in the Kitchen Inquiry we were lucky enough to get to go on the dream school trip that is kind of a must do for every kid in Auckland - we went to check out the Tip Top factory in Mt Wellington.  It was fun, interesting, amazing, educational . . .  and the coolest bit was we all got a free ice cream of our choice!  Have a look at the photos below, but sorry we weren't allowed to take any inside the actual factory.  We thought our tour guide was a bit like a female Willy Wonka.

Lounging Leopard

We have been doing more descriptive/environmental writing in class.   We enjoyed talking about leopards and how they love to relax up in trees.   Here's some of the fantastic writing that three of our class members read out at the assembly that we took on the last day of Term 1.

(C.B.)  The smart leopard is happily and deeply sleeping on a wide and heavy branch.  He is an awesome climber like a mountaineer.  He is bold and brave and super safe from predators or hunters.  He is well gripped on the chunky wide and strong branch.

(A.H.)  The tired lazy leopard hangs on a branch in his favourite tall tree.  The spotted sleepy leopard is safe from predators down below.  The expert climber lays there comfortably in the shade after a hot day in the African sun enjoying the gentle breeze.

(L.G.)  The soft smart cute leopard is lazily lying in his favourite tree in Africa exhausted from hunting for the morning.  His legs are dangling down from the thick branch which is very high.
